Does anyone have a solid grasp on the hardware capabilities on the new MacBook Pros (13 or 15) to know if it'd power the 27" 5k iMac screen?

I know I'd need at least a Thunderbolt 2 to Thunderbolt 3 cable, but would that cut it?

The LG displays seem to be supported at 5k. The previous generation MacBook Pros were a no-go because of the t-con. Wondering if this new generation of hardware handles this?

Nothing can power the 27" iMac screen except an iMac that is attached to it. No target display mode. To power the new LG 5K monitor, you must have a Thunderbolt 3 equipped Mac (only the new Macbook Pros -- 2016) and then the iMac 2017....
