Took my old MBP 13” with TB into Apple Store on Sunday as the screen started going blank when it was opened near / past vertical.
Guy had a look at it, and said likely to be a connection issue, possibly down to screen being over-extended at some point.
£474 (UK) to fix, but appears it’s a known issue, so being fixed for free - “safe repair”.
Had the battery replaced a while back under safe repair too , so no arguments from me.
