Once I upgraded to Mojave, my machine has been freezing (no spinning ball) while performing light load work. Hard button resets. Ran Diagnostics, nothing. Ran Etrecheck...nothing. It's cutting out constantly...anywhere from 10-15 minutes after awaking from sleep to an hour.

I've been monitoring the heat and temps. Nothing more than 124 F, while using FCPX and maybe firefox and Itunes. and I'm not seeing a high energy use in Activity Monitor. The SMC Fan app isn't working either...thought maybe I could crank the fans above their 1200 RPM speed to help cool...but the more I'm researching this I'm realizing it could be a BAD POWER SUPPLY?

Any thoughts? Getting to the point of taking it into Apple...but I'm out of Applecare.

Thanks,
Nitro

Have Apple call you. An OS upgrade entitles you to a free phone call — always has. A tech will log in remotely to see if he/she can identify the problem. Most likely, an examination of the Console log in real time will find the culprit.

Clearly, you are looking in the wrong places. Have someone else take a look for free. Can't hurt. Set up the call on the Tech Support website.

In the mean time, I would download and reinstall the OS. This has solved the problem more than once for myself and my clients — don't know why (I can guess) but it has. Then run a Safe Boot by holding the shift key down to rebuild any corrupted paths — generic alias icons are a symptom, BTW (a common issue with Mojave installs) and reboot normally. Can't hurt and often helps.

If the problem persists, having a tech examine the Console log in real time is the next step.
