been bothering me for a while. stuff like tech tools doesn't find any problems, and alas the iMac was a quick emergency purchase and I bought additional care but it was FNACs own rather than AppleCare, so instead of dropping it off at Worten's Apple repair section id have to take it to FNAC who would send it to the mainland and after a month they might just say they cant find a fault.
its intermittent but has been for a few years. random issues But all giving me the impression something is wrong with either the power or the sockets and bluetooth.
I had to ditch a Microsoft keyboard which worked directly bluetooth and repeatedly wouldnt reconnect after switching from MacOS to Windows and vice versa, That keyboard had replaced an ancient apple wireless keyboard (I dropped and lost a key from the apple keyboard that came with the Mac) that did random keys not working or working random. swapped to a HP keyboard and mouse setup which works off a dongle and works fine
I've had various issues with usb sticks and hard drives, not working then working fine, or working on other machines but not mine. drives that would fail with an error whilst copying large files, then work fine for a year, then do it again.
yesterday colleague asked me to copy a few video files to her usb stick, all files give an error even though usb stick works fine on office pc and tv and stuff. tried another usb stick I found in a drawer, same issue. tried that at work, works fine. now having to copy a terabyte of info off of a usb drive so I can reformat it as exfat so I can put the files on that then take it to work and copy the files to the usb stick from there.
I try to have as little plugged into my Mac as I can, dont use it for charging devices, just normally two usb hard drives plugged in (but going to get that down to one).
I doubt it's a software issue as its been across various MaOSs over the life of the Mac.
