Just had a weird conversation with a local Apple Authorised Seller.
Wanted to replace the 8GB RAM in my 2017 iMac with at least 16GB or 32GB RAM
This is the content of an email I received:
"As your device is relatively new, we are unable
to supply the RAM to upgrade the device as an Apple Authorized Service Provider
until the device is considered a vintage unit. This means simply that we cannot
supply the RAM components for your desired upgrade until the device is 7 years
old. We are however able to install the RAM that you purchase and supply however,
into your iMac. "
So Apple won't supply the memory unless it's faulty and will replace like for like but won't supply it to upgrade ?!?!
Anyone come across this bizarreness before ?
