2017 Imac with OCLP running Sonoma 14.2 how to update

2017 Imac with OCLP running Sonoma or other years for that matter. I also have a 2015 Imac. I have read way too many posts and watched many videos but am still unclear on the proper procedure to update. The 14.2.1 update is now available. Do I just use the OS updater or am I supposed to update through the patcher somehow?

You should be able to update it using the normal updater. You will need to run the post-install patch again from the desktop afterward.

Update went as smooth as silk on the 2017. After update OCLP popped up and asked to install root patches. The 2015 froze with no desktop graphics. Had to power button off and on then was able to install root patches, but it worked.
