There appears to be no external cracks just internal. 2017 with a 256 gb ssd and 8 gigabytes of ram picked it up for only $200 Canadian quite a good deal I think.

Plan to transfer mini dv tapes over FireWire but need the Thunderbolt 3 to 2 adapter do generics work well or do I need an apple one? Already have the 2 to FireWire adapter.

Thanks

Is there a fool proof way for me to connect my laptop to my monitor so that it will always display on the external display? My monitor has thunderbolt 3.

I think clamshell mode is only way to force it, but if you just leave it at default to mirror display rather than extend it will probably be workable either way

Serious the 2017 Mac Book “Pro” is slower than a 2012 Mac Mini? Obviously that was deliberate so the new M1 would look killer compared to intel…

The 13" macbook pro's were always only dual core till the m1 series and much weaker than the 15"+ ones, the mini came in dual and quad configs, due to better cooling.
