Quick question on Intel Mac - I currently use my iPad for most things, leaving my 2018 MBP for mostly paying bills and banking. I don't really want to upgrade, but can get 300+ from Apple toward another Mac. Is upgrading inevitable at this point? Any thoughts on how long this 5 year old computer will be useful and safe? Downside? Not a techie here, just enjoy Apple products and want to avoid getting hacked. Any advice appreciated.

there
my MacBook Air 2010 still has some use even today while the 2012 MacBook Pro can perform 2023 tasks.
Im very sure your mid 2018 can excel today.

it is a shame that  does not reward those enough who have older Macs.
your MBP is worth $600 on several used Mac websites depending on the innards like RAM, GB etc.
which means you prob can get $550 on the market if you want to sell that to a human.

BUT
the new M series are incredible though, we have been waiting all 2010s for these chips
and im enjoying both my MBA and mini today!

hoped this helped!

Thanks, MB! I'm not so concerned about performance - M3s are so nice, but shelling out 1500 for something I use once a week isn't worth it to me. I also blew my apple budget this year on watch and phone. I'm mostly concerned about getting critical updates to keep my information safe. I have considered selling privately but have been burnt before buying on Ebay, and would not feel safe. Too many creepy characters out there who prey on honest sellers. For 200 just not worth it to me.
