I have a base model 2018 iPad Pro 11” that seems to run out of memory a lot when using Safari. At times Safari crashes and about once a week the whole device crashes and restarts.

I’m wondering if it’s a hardware issue.

Does anyone else have issues with Safari crashing on their 2018 Pro?

Which version of iPadOS? Do you use an adblocker? Does this happen when a specific website is open? Does this happen when you use another browser or app?

I own a 2018 iPad Pro as well. Here’s some things that could help:
1. Free up storage, keep around 10-15GB free
2. Restore and set up as new.

It has only 4GB ram, and I experience tabs reloading all the time. Crashes happen when I’ve no storage left

15.6. Everything is stock, I don't use extensions. Sometimes it'll randomly reboot with other apps (maybe once a week) but it's mostly with Safari which I use on a daily basis.

I will note that this has been happening since I've owned the iPad (since iOS 13 or whatever the first version was shipped with the 11" 1st gen.) It just hasn't bothered me enough to go to Apple about it until recently.

I've got 34GB free space, I restored from new about a month ago.

I'm thinking it's just Safari running out of memory fast. Especially with sites like YouTube and Reddit. I could use the apps but I prefer the browser UI for both sites.

I might get the battery service from Apple, which they will give me a replacement iPad Pro, and see if it's hardware after all. I've never seen an iOS device reboot so often.

Unacceptable with 34GB free space.
I got my iPad replaced 4 times, none of them had this issue

Not had this issue with mine. I have the 256GB model and have 195GB available. I don’t think it’s a space issue as my iPad mini is 64GB and has 37.5 GB free and only the same 4GB of ram.
iPadOS doesn't use disk swap for memory on older iPads anyway.

If y'all aren't having Safari crashing issues and random reboots, I'm thinking it's my iPad having hardware issues.

Time for a trip to Apple! Thanks guys!

You might want to start using ad blockers. Ads can use up a lot of system resources which may actually be what’s causing Safari to crash.
