My 2018 iPad Pro 12.9 has been intermittently not charging when I plug it in. I could flip the cable around and get it to charge. I use it mostly attached to my Magic Keyboard but also off the keyboard quite a bit. I’ve used various types of cables, outlets, reset the iPad, etc to no avail, and at this point it will not charge at all. I decided to pull the trigger on a M1 12.9 iPad Pro since my peripheral accessories will work with it as well and was looking to trade in but presumably is it not worth anything to Apple at this point?

Assuming that it will operate while attached to a power source, then I suggest you initiate a chat with Apple and have them run a diagnostic on your iPad. They can tell you if the battery or something else is faulty.

There are also apps that will do this - iMazing is one. You can have your iPad plugged into your iMac or laptop, run iMazing, and it will give you a battery diagnostic.

Batteries can be replaced. I had battery replacement done for a 4 year old 5th generation iPad by a local shop, cost was less than $100 and the work was perfectly fine. In that case the battery was at just 40-50% maximum capacity, something like that, and needed replacement badly.

A 2018 iPad Pro should still be a very usable device for some years to come, and even if you decide to replace it, putting a new battery in will make it more valuable for sale or to pass down to someone else who may use it.

Have you tried cleaning out the usb-c port? Many times stuff will get in there and cause the cable not to make a connection. Use something non-metallic like a toothpick to clean out any lint or dirt that may be inside the port.
I've done that on my iPhone before and I've also cleaned out my friend's android phone with a usb-c port and it fixed it right up.
It's worth a try if nothing else.

It might also be a faulty connector itself. I've had that before on my usb-c Macbook Pro. It was under warranty, so Apple replaced the usb-c I/O port on it. You might still want to try the cleaning first though.

Thanks for the replies and tips. I just turned my iPad back on after erasing all content and settings, and plugging directly in won't charge, but it shows it is charging using the USB-C port on the Magic Keyboard. So it might be a bad USB-C I/O port on my iPad.
