Hey all - Getting my 12.9" IPP on Wednesday along with the Smart Keyboard, which I understand offers some protection.

That being said, I'm still a bit nervous about scratching the sides of the device when my IPP will be in my bag, etc.

In the past I've used laptop sleeves, but I'd like something a little nicer for this device. Anyone have any recommendations for something to protect the device while transporting?

Thanks!

I actually ordered the Apple sleeve for the 13" MacBook and MacBook Air. I'm going to see how that works. I wasn't a fan of the original 12.9" sleeve that they had because of the pencil pouch at the top, and you can't buy them anymore anyway.

I'll also be purchasing a sleeve for my new 12.9" IPP. As a reference, here are the dimensions of the old IPP vs. the new:

iPad Pro 12.9" (2017): 12.04 x 8.69 x .27
iPad Pro 12.9" (2018): 11.04 x 8.46 x .23

I'm partial to fitted sleeves where the iPad doesn't move around too much. Using a 2017 iPad sleeve with the new one would leave about an inch of travel inside the sleeve. I think I'll wait until the new sleeves hit the street. Also, I'd like one with a pouch for the Apple pencil. Sliding the iPad in and out of a sleeve with the pencil attached to it seems like an exercise in frustration.

I wonder if Apple will release new sleeves at all. Correct me if I’m wrong but I think they introduced the leather sleeves at the same time they introduced the previous generation iPad pros, about a year and a half ago? And I’m wondering if they have even sold well, considering how expensive they were.

I bought a leather sleeve for my IPP 10.5 like a month ago (I knew new ipads were coming but I always loved the look of the sleeve). Now I want to buy an 11 inch IPP but I really hope it can still fit in the sleeve, as I plan on buying the new ipad on december I was wondering if someone here would be so kind to try it out for me and tell if it fits.

I am trying to see if those cheap 2 SGD A4 cushioned sleeves will work, it will take a while for me to find though as already 2 Daisos I went to does not have it

Other 100 yen shops (of which Daiso is one but obviously have to sell their stuff at 2 SGD) might have it but I am not in Japan so I will have to see if I have the time to find other Daiso branches

I've always used these sleeves with my ipads. You can choose the fit depending on which cover you're using and can go for a top or side loading sleeve depending on if you plan to use the Pencil. Well made, relatively cheap.

Are you saying if you order the top loading sleeve it’ll fit the Apple Pencil too?

Just ordered one myself (top loading) and I’m hoping the pencil will fit as well

This is the sleeve I ordered from Amazon to fit my new 2018 12.9 iPad Pro, it also has a pocket for Apple Pencil... although they seem to have just updated the name and didn’t change the actual product’s design or dimensions, so wondering how well the Pencil will fit, since it’s smaller than the last generation Pencil. I won’t be getting it until next Monday for the black color due to backorders but seems to be a solid option.

That being said, this thread should be moved to the iPad Accessories section, not iPad section.

No - think just the side loader fits the pencil but not sure as haven't tried.

Thanks for this post. I’m been wondering if the 2017 Apple leather sleeve would work with the new 12.9 with keyboard folio attached. Wonder how the new pencil fits in the 2017 pencil slot on the leather sleeve?

I just received my Amazon order today for the Comfyable laptop sleeve. I bought it because it had similar dimensions as the iPad Pro 12.9” (3rd Generation) with Smart Keyboard. I have tried many sleeves from Amazon, but mainly end up returing all of them except this one.

Does anyone have a cheap sleeve/case option until better options become available?

For a case: Ztotop. They support charging the new pencil and are almost a 4th of the price Apple is charging.
12.9 inch : https://www.amazon.com/Ztotop-12-9-...p+iPad+pro&dpPl=1&dpID=51kP6YXqQbL&ref=plSrch
11 inch : https://www.amazon.com/Ztotop-Stron...pad+pro+11&dpPl=1&dpID=51R8MIC1ukL&ref=plSrch

For a sleeve: ProCase : https://www.amazon.com/ProCase-Sleeve-Case-Bag-Protective/dp/B016Z3EFL0

I own both ProCase and the 12.9 inch version of Ztotop and am extremely happy so far.
