My new 2018 Mac mini is working great — except just about every time I return to it and the displays are sleeping, they switch positions. (I have the left one in landscape and the right one in portrait.) I can open the Displays preferences pane and fix it and then it's fine until the next sleep.

I haven't tried every possible combination of USB-C connectors on the Mac side, but I have switched back and forth and that doesn't seem to help.

Anyone have any tips or ideas?

It still happens to my MBP 2018 on Big Sur 11.6 with 3 external monitors using Apple’s USB-C to HDMI dongle.

It is quite annoying. Sometimes one or more of the monitors would refuse to display anything and I would have to replug the dongle.

I don’t remember it happening with 2 monitors plugged in to the BlackMagic eGPU via HDMi and DisplayPort, and another one direct to USB-C however.

Also does not happen to my dual Thunderbolt Displays.
