I have a maxed out MB Pro 15" from 2018 which doesn't start anymore. just a black screen.
It was working this afternoon after i charged it up after no use for a few weeks. The battery level was about 90% when I checked it today. I left it connected and a few hours later the screen was black and power button or any other button does nothing to wake it.

battery health was about 80% with 380 cycles when I last checked a few weeks ago.

I tried the SMC reset from Apple:
Shift on the left-hand side of your keyboard
Control on the left-hand side of your keyboard
Option (Alt) on the left-hand side of your keyboard
While holding all three keys, press and hold the power button as well for 10 sec.

any suggestion?

Small detail, I don't know if it makes any difference but I think the 2018 MacBook Pro has the T2 security chip so in that case you would do the SMC reset with the right shift key for 14 seconds or so. Is there any signs of power on the MBP, like fans, etc? If your Mac is not starting up connected to its power adaptor then it shouldn't be affected by the battery.

T2 came later. Tried this anyway. Still nothing.

With or without the power connected it doesn’t start up. Also no sound when plugging in.

Guess i have to let Apple diagnose it in 2 months cos im going overseas

Anyone now how much is the battery service in EU? Was it 280€ ?
If its not the battery the logic board i guess is even more expensive.

Well, if the Mac isn't showing any signs of life, I don't think I have much else to suggest. Is there any chance your power adaptor (or other power connections like outlet or port) is bad? I've had my power adaptor fail out of nowhere a few times in the past. My 2016 MBP started showing "service battery" around 300 cycles so it's quite possible you're right that the battery needs replaced. Good luck -- I hope something works out.

The 2018 15" MBP does have a T2 Security Chip:
I stand corrected. SMC reset still doesn't work.
