Hi Everyone,

I believe that the 2018 MBA comes with a 30 watt USB-C charger. If you were to use a 45 watt, 60 watt, or 87 watt USB-C charger, would the 2018 MBA charge any faster? Or is the 2018 MacBook Air physically limited to charging at a max of 30 watts?

Where do you get the 30 from ?
The smallest charger for MacBooks is 45, recommended is 85

the MBA is limited to 30 watts. You can use a higher wattage charger safely but you won't see any improvement in charging rates. For instance I use a 87 watt charger with my 13 tb-MBP and its still limited to 60 watts according to istat Menus even though System Profiler recognizes it as a 87 watt charger

Thanks everyone. I had hoped a 45 watt or 60 watt usb c charger would have charged it faster, but thanks for the confirmation that the 2018 MBA will only charge at 30 watt max. This is very helpful info to have.

I never knew this! I have just been using my MacBook Pro 2017 charger and thought maybe that's why my MacBook Air 2018 has been charging so fast... I guess not!!

Same, I'm using an 87 watt charger because someone said the 30W charger took 5 hours to charge....haven't tested myself but am wondering if that's true.

Definitely don't think it takes 5 hours to charge, its much quicker than that. I find myself not having to charge as much due to the amazingly long battery life.
