Does anyone know if Apple has different model numbers for custom configurations of the 2018 Mini depending on which base model you build from? And if so, are there any other "hidden" differences?
For example, if you go on Apple's website and configure the following:
i3 Base -> Add i7 CPU, Add 256GB SSD
i5 Base -> Add i7 CPU
... you get two Minis with the same specs. i7, 8GB RAM, 256GB SSD, gigabit Ethernet, $1299. But if you add both to your cart, they show up as two separate machines (each with a quantity of 1), not the same machine with a quantity of 2. Configure a third the same way, and it will change the quantity of one of those two, instead of adding a third separate item in the checkout summary, so it's not that each Mini gets its own line item.
So at least for the purpose of ordering, Apple is for some reason keeping them separate...
