I turned my MacBook on yesterday to find the colours all messed up. I am thinking hardware related,

This is a photo of what it looks like

And this is a screen cap of east it’s supposed to look like

Maybe a loose connection? It’s not had any water damage but it’s a 4 year old machine so has had a few bumps.

Has anyone see man this before?

I had this happen on my 2019 iMac. The graphics card was on its way out as it would happen intermittently.

I think it's the flex cable between the chassis and the screen. It works just fine on an external display.

That would be a typical MacBook issue known as „Flexgate“.

yup, i've found loads of info about it. Its definitely that, it's fine when the screen is at 45 degrees, open it more and it go wrong. Luckily I bought it through work and the supplier gave a 4 year warranty which runs out in April. So it's going in for repair.

Had an email from the company it was bought from asking for me to remove the laptop from find my on icloud which I found odd. I'm now wondering if they will replace the whole thing.

They might just repair that flex cable. Not sure where your company is having it repaired but typically when it's done at the Apple store or mailing it to Apple, they do require Find My to be disabled during that time.

The company are called XMA, they are the Apple reseller for higher education in the UK. I’m not sure if they will be repairing themselves or sending it to Apple to be done, the wording was to disable Find My before they could order parts, so they maybe an Apple Authorised repair centre.
