I bought a refurbished pro 10.5 back in 2018 and it's been great, but lately the battery life has noticeably declined. Unplugged and resting it will lose 10 percent or so overnight (about 7-8 hours). I'm wondering if this could be ios15 related or is it just an old battery that needs to get replaced?

And is it worth replacing the battery on a 2018 ipad?

Opinions welcomed, thanks all

A battery replacement isnt big of a deal whatsoever. And YES, older devices will always have more battery drain when updated to the newest OS.

If I was in ur place, I´d get a new battery if you are satisfied with ur device in every other aspect.

Official battery replacement is $99 and since Apple swaps the iPad instead of replacing the battery, they're pretty strict about the 80% capacity.

Iirc, Apple offers decent trade-in on the Pro 10.5. Assuming you can live without ProMotion, quad speakers, etc. you'll get far better performance and longer useful life from an iPad 9th gen for around $130-150 net after trade-in versus paying $100 for Pro 10.5 battery replacement.

Thanks to efficiency improvements (from A10X to A13), the 9th gen also has better battery life compared to the Pro 10.5.
