With 2019 iMacs finally hitting the refurb store, I am almost ready to pull the trigger on a new computer. My primary use will be for heavy photo editing with Capture One Pro and Affinity, occasionally with Photoshop. I may do some light video editing down the line, but it's not one of my main needs at the moment.

My inclination is to get a maxed out iMac to future proof it, and allow me to do serious video work if my workflow grows in that direction down the line. But I've got a bit of sticker shock.

How much power would I be losing in regards to heavy RAW editing if I just go with a maxed out 2018 Mac Mini? I already have a magic keyboard and trackpad, so I wouldn't need to purchase those. I have an old HD Dell Ultrasharp display, which I might upgrade to a 4k or 5k monitor, but it's not an immediate need.

All in all, seems like this would save me about $2000, which is nothing to sniff at. But would I be limiting myself too much? Help me talk myself into one huge purchase or another!

Thanks so much
