I have the benefit of being able to keep old equipment from work. I recently replaced my 2013 iMac with a 2019 model. I have Windows 10 running via boot camp, but I cannot get the sound to work in Windows (works fine in Mac OS). Doesn't matter if I select the speakers or "headphone" where I have external speakers connected. I had no problem with sound in Windows on the 2013 iMac.
I have installed the latest boot camp drivers several times. I have gone into device manager and removed everything related to sound, let Windows detect it, and installed boot camp drivers yet again.
I have searched here, reddit, Apple's community, and the Internet in general. Any somewhat recent thread on any platform either ends successfully with boot camp drivers being re-installed or it ends with no resolution and OP didn't press for more help.
Has anyone had this problem where new drivers didn't do anything, but eventually gotten it to work or is this one of those "oh well" things?
Should it matter, the Mac has Mac OS 14.5
I forgot to add - there are no exclamations or other problems in device manager and a screen in settings that shows sound activity shows it as if there is sound. I tried a bluetooth speaker and that DOES have sound, but since the main reason for sound is a game that hogs the CPU, sound would drop out every now and then getting under my skin. I am stumped.
