In some ways, I regret getting my max out 2019 i9 iMac due to how quickly it gets loud. The performance is amazing, but its just too loud at times. I also have a dedicated gaming computer with a GTX 1080 that I built in 2015. I am tired of having two different systems. Therefore, I am thinking about selling my iMac and getting the Mac Pro with the W5700X. Is this equivalent to the 5700XT in terms of gaming performance in Windows via Bootcamp?

I am definitely waiting until WWDC though, there might be a new iMac Pro with the enhanced cooling or a new iMac with the better cooling too. They are decent machines, I just wish they were a little bit more quiet.

The eGPU functionality of Windows 10 has been absolutely horrible since the 1909 release, and you had to install just 1903 without a recent update otherwise it broke eGPU. I would keep my iMac if Windows starts supporting eGPUs again, as it was offloading a lot of the performance and the fans were not as loud.

Please not play the game on Mac Pro 2019 with Bootcamp. the reason is I have the MacPro 2019 with the pro 5700x. and if I play game in Bootcamp Win 10, all the fan will run fullspeed, the noise will kill me.

Is this actually true? I would doubt it; you probably didn't install the Bootcamp drivers correctly for your machine if the fans are stuck at 100%

The W5700X is equivalent, if not better as it unlocks the full potential of the Navi GPU (40 rendering units, versus 36 I believe in the XT non pro) with more ram at 16GB vs 8.

I own a 16core 2019 Mac Pro with the W5700X and I upgraded as you're speaking of, from a 2019 iMac in part because I got tired of the fan noise and sub-par video performance and some other performance limiting factors. It costs me 4x the cost of an iMac all said and done, but I'll never go back to an iMac myself now - and running 2 perfectly matched Pro Display XDR's. Beautiful setup

Never had a fan issue with my Vega II in bootcamp on the Mac Pro 7,1. I sold my gaming machine and the iMac for pretty much the same reasons and upgraded to the Mac Pro. There was also an issue with limited space at my office and the iMac running out of TB3 ports.

If you do see that, its easily controllable with a fan control app.

I had a similar situation. Had a gaming pc and 2013 Mac Pro. I sold both and got a 2019 Mac Pro with the Vega II. The Mac is completely silent when gaming in boot camp, temperatures are not too high but are within normal ranges for an AMD card. You can control the fans to get better temperatures and the fans are still quiet.

Just like what @elgargui have mentioned, I created a thread experiencing the annoying thing. I don't know if this will last forever, but here it is:

Like @darthaddie & @TrevorR90 I was told VEGA II doesn't happen. But W5700X does. Hope it's a driver issue.

I’ve been playing Assassins Creed Odyssey in 4K with ultra settings. Not able to hit 60fps but it looks great and it’s been fun. It’s a couple years old now so the real test will be Cyberpunk 2077 and Flight Simulator 2020. If the performance isn’t good I want to try putting in a 2080 or 3080.

No problem with fan noise BTW. Sometimes they ramp up a little when I’m on my boat. The fans once ramped up so loud I thought it was a truck outside. Then I realized the paper shredder was right up against the front of the Mac Pro.

Yeah I think we're both talking the same thing (real quick ramp up for about 3-5 seconds), but this occurs frequently so I guess this is a driver issue that can probably be fixed. At worst since the GPU has no fans as an MPX form factor, maybe it just reaches up to 95%+ much easily.

Btw I'm very excited for Flight Simulator 2020 as well.
