Hi,

Does anyone have a high end 2019 Mac Pro and can comment on what Windows virtualization is like with VMWare or Parallels?
I prefer to have Mac OS on one monitor, then have a Windows 10 OS on another monitor and switch between the two via a virtualization program.
Would Windows be efficient and snappy enough to do light gaming, video editing, etc?
I assume it would be "good enough" to do most tasks, but wondering what the overall experience would be like, especially something intensive like gaming.

For reference, I have a 12-core Mac Pro with 384GB Ram and 12 Core CPU. I assume the ram would be enough, but would be open to upgrading the CPU if it helped. I have a Vega II Duo and a Vega II, have a 6900XT available.

Thanks!

Won't work for gaming unless its a really old game that can run on a potato.

Problem is gpu passthrough technology only exists in Windows. I think its a macos limitation where you cant use the gpu in a virtual environment.

Not great. Performance is uneven, and no DirectX 12 support. You can play some modern DX11 titles, just not very well. Too much stuttering for something like an FPS.

It's not a speed problem. The DirectX->Metal translation can be problematic. As the machine does translation, the game will stop and lag. Some games have specifically worked with Parallels to make sure the experience is good. So those might be usable.
