intel MBP batteries ran down and won’t charge. I only have a single 96w power adaptor in the house but have confirmed that it charges iPhone and iPad. I have replaced all power cords in the chain.

When connected to A/C the MBP is showing me the symbols to plug it in to charge. I managed to get one last Time Machine backup before it went to pot this morning.

I reset the SRAM but no change. How would you diagnose it from here? Machine has been owned for >5 years used in the home for personal use. MS Office, browsing, media consumption.

Assuming you've tried every USB-C port and still not charging...

First, confirm MBP is drawing current by using a USB voltage indicator.

If not, possibly a dead battery. I believe the laptop won't boot w/out a functioning battery. You can replace DIY...

Otherwise, if MBP drawing current, have repair shop diagnose. Could be components or logic board. Or have diagnose before replacing battery.

Mine had this problem. I took it to the apple store, they removed the bottom and unplugged it from the mother board. This reset something and it's been working fine. Best of all, they didn't charge me.
