Hi, a new 2019 Pro (7.1) owner here :) I have a pretty large multi monitor setup at home and looking to add another MPX graphics card to my machine. My question is: can I have TWO Radeon Pro 580X MPX modules at the same time?

It’s very confusing, as online Apple documentation says only one 580X or W6600X MPX is allowed. Did anyone try two 580Xs MPX?

P.s. no, not buying any gaming cards for MP7,1 (I mean RX or GeForce cards). Radeon Pro, MPX. Want to keep my machine original : )

Maybe.

The 580X and the W6600X only have two HDMI ports. The rest of the 6 or 5/4 displays (respectively) must connect to the top or rear Thunderbolt controller of the Mac Pro (two displays per Thunderbolt controller).

If you connect two 580X, maybe only the two HDMI ports of the second 580X can be used. 8 displays total max in any case (4 HDMI, 4 Thunderbolt).

The W6600X is similar but with additional restrictions that I don't fully understand. The documentation says the number of total displays possible is lowered from 5 to 4 when both HDMI ports are used. Other documentation says only 4 displays can be connected ever. Two W6600X might let you connect 6 or 8 displays total (4 HDMI, 2 or 4 Thunderbolt, not sure which).

you can also buy for a cheap price a radeon pro W5700 (the blue one) which has 5 mini displayport connectors, but you have to find belkin cables.
but, buying belkin cables is not a bad thing

Yeah i could also buy a full RGB PC or a M2 Ultra mac pro and boom problem solved, but unfortunately, no 😂. The 580X module would be about £150 tops on eBay and these others are a very different story, financially speaking.
Could afford w6600 regular PCIe version, but would it work without patching?
