Cloned my HDD onto an SSD today, and after installing internally, was greeted with recovery mode. Tried booting to a Big Sur install USB drive, which was ignored. Holding down Option at boot does not take me to a boot options screen, ever. I can get to recovery mode, but the startup security manager software does not give me the option that Apple predicts it will - I only get the option to enable or disable firmware password, no option to allow booting to external media is present.

I used CCC to do the clone, so after it succeeded (but the post installation boot didn't work), I figured I could install Big Sur over top of the cloned SSD, which I've done before to perfect results. This one has me stumped. How do I get it to recognize my new internal drive? Thanks!

Edit: I was finally able to get everything working by downloading Monterey and installing it. I really can’t explain what I was saying earlier with it refusing to boot but eventually Internet recovery going to Monterey worked.
