Just wanted to get folks’ opinions on next year’s storage options.

This is what I think the 3 options will look like for the Pro level phones:

128GB (this will become the new base option replacing 64GB)
512GB
1TB

Let me know what you think.

They won’t ever do 128GB base. Anybody who needs it will upgrade and they get that cash.

Apple will always have the "budget" storage option. I believe that is 64GB. I do believe Apple will offer a 1TB version. With the iPad Pro coming with 1TB, I thought the 11 Pro was going to offer it.

64GB
512GB
1TB

Knowing Apple and the amount of markup they place on the incremental storage tier as compared to component cost:
64gb (because 128gb would be far less likely to push users to the next tier)
256gb (sweet spot for those who need more than 64gb)
512 (because 1TB still seems a bit premature) Are there those who would use it? Yeah. But I’d bet the farm not many.

If the current lineup for a Pro Max goes:
64gb $1,099
256gb $1,249
512gb 1,449
I cannot even fathom the price tags on a mid tier $512gb and top tier 1TB but they most certainly wouldn’t be the same prices as offered now.

Given the SE2 will start with 64GB, the base storage for iPhone 5G will likely be 128GB.

Consumers often buy the middle tier option. Even with 128GB base, many consumers will opt for the next step up - 256GB.

Hopefully your prediction will be correct for the Pros, Honestly I thought it was a bit stingy the X wasn't 128/256 given that it was already a super premium model and accordingly priced. While I'm wanting to review my data when I upgrade from my 8 plus 256 rather than just rolling everything over again I still think I've outgrown 128 though so the mid tier whether it's 512 or still 256 will probably be what I go with.

"Not quite enough" will always be the low end option for as long as Apple makes iPhones.
64GB next year.

Yep, that storage upsell is pure marketing magic.

They price-anchor you with the price of the base storage option and then have you buy a 150-200 EUR/USD more expensive 'middle' tier model just to get sufficient storage.

Will there be an iPhone 12 this year?????
I really hope so but it’s too soon to tell
Let’s all hope so

Seeing the iPad Pro base storage bump, I could see:

iPhone 12 Pro:
128/512/1TB ($1,049/1,199/1,449) for the smaller option, +$100 for the larger (price increase reflects 5G inclusion).

iPhone 12:
128/256/512 ($749/799/899) for the smaller option, +$100 for the larger (reflects 5G and OLED inclusion).
