Hi all,

I’m trying to connect my 2021 iPad Pro 11 inch to my Philips 276C8 display via the USB-C port on the display. I’ve tried a multitude of cables, including an Apple Thunderbolt 3 cable, but the display keeps informing me there is no video input. The iPad does charge via this connection however. When I use a Baseus USB-C dongle and an HDMI cable, the setup does works as expected (screen mirroring). I’ve tried the USB-C input of the display using my MS Surface Pro, and this functions perfectly. Any thoughts on what could be the issue here?

Regards,
Ward

So the cable you have is USB-C for the iPad and HDMI for the Monitor

Both, ideally I'd only use a USB-C cable (display has USB-C input) but this isn't working for some reason. I also have a USB-C dongle which I can connect to the iPad. This dongle has multiple ports and when I connect the HDMI port of the dongle to the HDMI input of the display it does work.

Anyone able to figure this out? I tried to connect my iPad to a Dell USB-C monitor at work and that performed flawless. Perhaps something to do with communication protocols?

I had a major problem with connecting my iPad Pro via USB C to HDMI. I could show the screen mirroring but any type of motion, I.e. movies would not play. I tried several different cords and adapters. Brought it to Best Buy and Apple. They ended up resetting up the iPad as new plus they did something else software wise. It worked fine after that.

One thing I found with the 2021 12.9 and a 4K monitor is that with USB-C to HDMI, there were still small black bars above and below the mirrored display, beyond the expected side bars (unless playing video). But with a USB-C to DisplayPort connection, the upper and lower bars were gone and the full vertical display was used.

I've used USB C to HDMI successfully - same for USB C to display port and USB C dock to HDMI. But I had to get new cables:

https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B075V27G2R/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_search_asin_title?ie=UTF8&th=1 - works for my iPad Pro 11 M1.

My Anker USB C dock works too. <shrug>. The monitors I've used it with are a Samsung 32' 4k and an old old Dell 21'.
Thanks, I've got the HDMI option working fine here. It's the direct USB-C to USB-C connection I'm having trouble with. I'd like to use this as my iPad would be able to charge using the same cable. Any experience or someone recognize this issue?

Did you use the same USB C cable with both monitors?
No unfortunately not, at my work I used the only available generic cable to connect to the Dell display and all worked perfectly. At home with the Philips display I tried every USB-C cable I could find (including the one supplied with the display) and even bought an Apple Thunderbolt 3 cable to no avail.

My iPad works the same as yours. I wonder why it happened.
