2021 Macbook Air: not a redesign?

we might not see a redesigned Macbook Air 2021

so it might be a silicon upgrade only

so for the next Macbook Air upgrade, what's your wishlist, aside from usual silicon chip upgrade

  1. 14 inch screen in same chassis, with small bezels
  2. 1080p webcamera
  3. extra USB-C ports

1. Hidden speakers just like my previous mid 2011 Air had
2. Glowing Apple logo
3. USB-C on the right side

1. 12” option
2. FaceID with camera which is equal to at least the iPhone XS selfie camera
3. Triple monitor support
4. Reliable USB/Thundebolt charging from third party docks/monitors
5. Micro LED or OLED
6. Micro SD Card

Not air specific. DisplayPort daisy chaining supported in macOS.

U-235 (Uranium) powered battery with a half-life of 703.8 million years for improved battery life. Come to think of it I'd be fine with Pu-239 (Plutonium) with a half-life of 24,100 years as well. That'd leave some room for improvement for the 2022 model.

#1 for sure. I don’t care about #2 especially if it made the case thicker. 720p with signal processing improvements is fine. For #3 I’d be fine with just moving one of the 2 USB-C ports to the opposite side.

I’d love 4G/5G cellular data on a future MBA.

Other than that the M1 is just about ideal.

Edge to edge display between 12.9-14
Mini LED
2-3 USB C ports
Magsafe
LED color changing backlit keyboard
LED color changing Apple logo
Built in projector (100 inch)
1080p webcam
OLED integrated trackpad

I have the m1Air right now and I'd say the only things that could make it better:
- 14" display in the same size -- bezels are still pretty thick
- Better camera (1080p?) with FaceID would be nice, though the Watch unlock works well enough for FaceId not to be a huge deal for me
- Getting rid of that weird circular port on the right side (what's that for?) and replacing it with a usb-c on each side.

1. Stop calling it a Macbook Air. Just MacBook is way more consistent with the Apple Portfolio
2. Stop with the "Wedge" profile
3. Colors would be nice
4. Better Cameras for sure
5. 13.3" screen no bezels
6. At least 2 USB-C

I will be upgrading my intel air to a M series, but waiting on the redesign. hope the colors stick, because I’d love an orange one.

1. mag-safe & headphone jack on left side, 1 extra USB-C would be nice; 2x USB-4 on right side
2. 14" display with small bezels
3. all white design (or at least silver + white)

doubt that they will drop the Macbook Air naming, just that name alone screams revenue for Apple and branding and recall of the Macbook Air name is huge, it has a following.

agree with colors and better camera.

I wonder if Apple should just merge both the MBA and MBP lines. MBP form factor, remove the Touch Bar, 4 USB-C ports, remove the fan and make it a little thinner as desired.

that's a lost of revenue

there will always be people looking for the laptop with better performance especially the "Pro" has a following the same way "Air" has a following too.

just a plain Macbook separate from Air and Pro is even more possible, than removing the latter 2.

But the MBA and the MBP have the same processor. The only difference is that the latter has a fan, and even then, I don't feel that is enough differentiation right now, especially when opting for the MBP also means having to pay extra for the Touch Bar.

MBP will ditch the Touch Bar, and will bring back the SD card slot and HDMI, MagSafe, those ports and with the fans is more than enough differentiation.

I want them to bring the color options from the 24 inch iMac over to the MBA. I would day 1 order to replace my current 2019 intel MBA

If I know Apple as well as I think, the new "redesigned" Air will cost $1199-1299 and they'll just keep the current one for $999.

$799 price point? Yeah right
