2021 MacBook Pro 16" - Best way to format the SD Card: MacOS Extended or APFS using GUID?

From research it looks like exFAT is the preferred option, I might be wrong though

What is the card going to be USED for?
Will it be used with Macs only, or used with PC's as well?

For Macs only, I recommend HFS+ (Mac OS extended with journaling enabled, GUID partition format).

For "mixed use" with PCs, use exFAT.
