Hello:

The MagSafe port on my 2021 MBP16 M1Max appears to have failed. See attached. The port appears to have cracked, displaced in and the MagSafe cable no longer fits in port. I did not drop the machine--if I had the cable would have been damaged but it is not. Has anyone seen this before?

Take it to a brick-n-mortar Apple Store genius bar, and see what they say about it.

Can it still be charged by using a USBc charging cable?

Hi FM,

Yes, it still charges via USB. Of course I will eventually take it to the Apple Store. My goal in posting was to see if others had seen this failure.

That doesn't look like a crack to me, rather almost as if part of a paper clip got wedged into the port. You could try using a toothpick to see if you could dislodge that piece. I would also check the charging cord itself to make sure it wasn't something that broke off that end.

Hi DM

You are correct. It was a black, ferromagnetic, sliver of metal. No sure where it came from. I have removed it and all is working. Thank you for the suggestion.
