Just got a base model 14 and I am getting spacebar imprints on the screen. Running my finger over the keyboard, I can feel the space bar is just a tad (good unit) taller than the surrounding keys. Has anyone else experienced this? I'll likely put a piece of thin napkin/kimwipe over the space bar when I close the lid as a solution, but just checking to see if others have the same impression.

Use the tissue Apple packed with it between the keyboard and the screen. Or buy some thin tissue paper and cut it to size.

Haven't noticed screen marks, but the space bar on my 16" M1 does seem to be very slightly higher.

Do you have a brick-n-mortar Apple Store anywhere nearby?
I'd take it to them and let them see it.
They may offer an exchange for another...

Thank you for your input. Exchanged for another machine and haven't seen the space bar imprinting on the screen a week into the new machine.

I had the tall spacebar on 16" M1,

it was so much higher than rest of the keys that it was bothering me when resting the thumbs on the keyboard and making marks on display after single lid close (was able to clean them, but was really concerned about long term damage).

Exchanged for another unit, it was quite bit of a gamble, as in multiple stores where I checked other units, about 1/5 of them had the problem to some extent. Fortunatelly the new unit is not one of those, and has spacebar almost perfectly flush with the rest (certainly no marks on the display, even after a week of use).
