Anyone else having this issue?

My 2018 iPad Pro looked brand new when I traded it in, my 2021 model is a totally different story, already got smudges that don't come off on the back and the magic keyboard has left a faint permanent line across the bottom of my iPad where the magic keyboard bends at the back.

The coating or paint is nowhere near as good as previous years.

Doesn’t come off even with a microfibre cloth or a bit of a damp ‘other’ cloth? Don’t be too cautious - as long as it’s non abrasive you should have some luck.

Tried a microfibre cloth, line is still there.

Will try a damp cloth today, can't be bothered replacing my iPad, since the line is only noticeable in certain lighting conditions.

Well… be careful!!! Try on the back first, not on the screen.

Bummer. I haven’t seen anything like you mention on my silver iPad.

If you can’t get it to wipe off, you can always cover it with a skin. I just put on a faux white leather Dbrands skin and love the look and feel - remarkably easy installation with the squared off edges.

No issue with my 2021. If you have an iPhone make some pictures using the magnifier and then try to clean the aluminum with an microfiber cloth and alcohol to see if it is getting worse. It’s not paint or coated but anodized.

I sometimes see “scratches” on my screen and when I wipe it with fabric, it sometimes doesn’t get removed and I can feel my chest caving in lol until I wipe it with water and microfiber cloth and it turned out to be just a smudge

I really don’t care for the finish on the Space Grey iPad Pro. I’ve never seen one that has been flawless. I exchanged several of the 2018 models which had white specks, chips on the camera bezel, scratched up antenna, and an overall uneven finish. That’s why I switched to silver and never looked back. I wish they would have used the same color as the MacBook Pro. Every Space Gray MacBook Pro I’ve seen has been pristine. The same cannot be said about the iPad.

You never saw my 2018 iPad Pro then, looked like it just left the showroom floor when I traded it in ?

I seriously doubt that. Unfortunately I suffer from Macrumors OCD. If I examined your iPad I know would find something. ?
Trust me you wouldn't, it looked like it had a wax and cut and polish before leaving the dealership ? the apple worker had one quick glance at it and the trade in was done, it was in pristine condition, I should've asked for more money ??

That’s the problem with a trade in - you get nowhere near the value back

Where do you live?! Being killed for an iPad is far from any worry I have! Unlucky for you if it’s a concern.

Agreed but still annoying.
Doesn’t matter where you live, there are criminals everywhere. Don’t be naive into thinking it can’t happen to you or in your neighborhood. Luckily, I’ve done over 25 Craigslist’s transactions several years ago when I was into photography and never had a problem, but that doesn’t mean I’ll be lucky next time.

Count your lucky stars that you don’t have to go to knifepoint shopping centre in Melbourne ?
