This just started this past week or so. New MBP and it is all working fine. But if I highlight something then go to Edit and his copy then do the same but Paste it somewhere it is not working. I can highlight it then use the touchpad to copy then paste but not the Edit feature up top. Easy fix to this?

That's pretty odd. Which macOS version are you on (Ventura beta or Monterey?). Which app does this happen in? I'd like to try to reproduce it.

Monterey and it is a new MBP. Double checked a couple times and all up to date as well. It's happened in Facebook as well as some other sites but to be honest I cannot say which ones.

I'm seeing that I can highlight say a web address and click on copy then go to an email and hit paste and it will not work. But I can put my pointer in that email and click on paste and it works with what I just copied. It's the Paste in the EDIT section that seems to be the issue. If this makes sense.

Thanks for the details. I tried reproducing it but am unable to. Here's what I tried on my M1 MBA:

1. Using the Safari in this post, I selected the address above by clicking once with the trackpad.
2. Opened the Edit menu while still in this post and selected Copy.
3. Opened a new Notes document.
4. Opened the Edit menu and selected Paste.

The URL pasted correctly.

When you say "But I can put my pointer in that email and click on paste and it works with what I just copied," that makes sense because in a new email, you have to click in the body of the email to direct the system where to start typing or paste something. In a new email, the default field is the To: field, so you have to tell the system where to paste by clicking on it. This is true in some other apps too.

So the example of pasting into a new Notes document works without clicking because the default field is the body of the Note.

Also when you say you "use the touchpad to copy and paste," I'm not sure what you mean. Are you using the trackpad to do a secondary click so that you see the right click menu like this?

Also have you tried the keyboard commands of command-C for copy and command-v for paste?

I've not tried the command copies as I thought these were only Windows shortcuts. But I am doing exactly what I've been doing for several years now on my Macs and this issue just started. I do use Chrome but have used Chrome forever. But this old way I've been doing it has not been working well very recently. If I use the trackpad it all seems to work fine. It's using the Edit/Copy then Edit/Paste feature where it is not working well.

If you look in any app menus on a Mac, you'll see the keyboard shortcuts to the right of the command.
