I received a new M2 14” MacBook Pro today. The silent click option for the trackpad is missing from the Ventura trackpad options in system preferences. The trackpad is insanely loud compared to last year’s model on Monterey. Even when turning off haptics, it still has the loud sound.

Is there any way to turn on silent clicks? A terminal command perhaps?

It’s so annoying to use that I may even return it. Mainly upgrading because I need RAM and a bigger SSD, but can get by with the older model.

Ok...silly me. Even though was downstairs and nowhere near my external Magic Trackpad, it was still connected and as soon as I turned off Bluetooth the Silent Click option disappeared from my old computer...guess that isn't an option anymore for the MacBooks. I guess the new MacBook Pros are just a bit louder than the old ones. I'll learn to live with it.

I am also noticing that the keyboard is a lot quieter and has a more grippy matte black finish rather than the glossy from last year.
