Olympics are certainly a very big business. Both the costs and the attention and possibilities it creates.Read an article about the "new" sliding center (where bobsled, luge and skeleton are held) and there is a controversy over it. The organizers want to build a new center, but the IOC doesn't think they have time and want to start planning to use existing ones in either St. Moritz, Switzerland, Igls/Innbruck, Austria or get this, Lake Placid, NY.
Can't even fathom why they would even consider using Lake Placid when 2 other facilities are a few hours drive vs a long plane ride and then a few hours drive.
And this is a reason I think we should have 10 permanent Olympics sites. Five winter and five summer distributed around the world. So every 20 years the Olympics come back to a site. No more countries that can't afford it (Rio) or are late and disorganized (Sochi) trying to host an event of this magnitude.

I like your suggestion, but I can't really agree as it is, as I also really like it when the Olympics goes to unexpected places
Have it staionary in a few places could make it too 'political' I think.
Last I heard, is that Sweden, Norway and Finland will apply for winter games together next time. Hope they get it 👍🏼

They're adding a new sport: Ski Mountaineering. Here's more about it (video).
