Just ordered the new Mac Pro. 12 Core, 32gb, 1tb with the 580x.

Before anyone makes assumptions, I know that 2080 ti is not supported in Catalina but I have an interesting question:

I was thinking of leaving the 580x in and hooking that up to my monitors via HDMI and putting in my 2080 ti to one of the pcie slots and connecting the 2080 ti via DP and just using that for bootcamp. I would just switch input modes when I want to switch OS.

Any reason why this wouldn't work? Or do I need to keep my PC ha?! I'm wanting to get rid of my 9900k rig.

The 7.1 is too new... if you have the storage space, closet the PC for 6 months.

I already have a 2080 ti so I will definitely try it out and update thread. Mac Pro due to arrive on the 11th per Apple order status.

I was just referring to his Q about 'keeping his PC' in general. When I purchase a new computer, I never get rid of the computer that it is replacing until many months later. I hope this explains it.

I'm running my Mac Pro exactly as you described – RX 580 in macOS and 2080 Ti in Boot Camp. I can confirm that it works quite well.

The only problem is that the 2080 Ti tends to cause panics in macOS when sleeping or shutting down. Details in this thread.

I haven't found a solution yet. For now I just disable sleep in the macOS power settings.
