Is the i3 3.2 worth upgrading to the i5 3.6 on the 21.5"

Its an extra £140 and 2 days to build on the BTO

Sorry forgot that bit of information.

I had a 21.5" C2D 3.06GHZ and sold this for a 27" i5 2010 last week.

I'm really having problems with headaches and the screen size so decided to return.

I would like to order the highend 21.5" today but not decided on the CPU

I3 or I5

I will be using email, browsing, dual boot into win7 for light gaming.
Alittle gaming like quake live, SC2 and TF2 on OSX and win7.
Iphoto, small amounts of imovie.

I do use visualbhub and handbrake and ftp client a few times a month
Nothing much really

Might use virtual box and play around with other stuff.

Since I read the word "game" (even light gaming today - possible heavy duty gaming in the future), I'd go with the 21.5" i5 processor. Especially if you like keeping your computers for 3+ years. And, knowing that future re-visions of apps are taking advantage of multi-thread Ix processors.

On a side note, don't think I ever read a post from a person buying a computer with "too stong" of CPU in it and regretting it. I ready lots of "shot - I should have bought faster, better, stronger CPU" type posts. But, don't think I ever seen posts from folks regretting their "too much" CPU. Especially for long term usage.

Perhaps one day, Apple will design a machine that allows someone to simply remove and replace the system's CPU chip. Vision another flip down door. Remove its "slow" CPU and "slip in" a better CPU. Just like adding more memory. That design would be really cool... Perhaps in time...

Hope this helps...

i3 is fine for you. The GPU is bigger bottleneck in gaming so i5 wouldn't give you more than few extra frames per second. Spend the money on RAM upgrade instead, from aftermarket of course.
