21.5" High Pitched Noise

My new iMac (i5) has a quiet WD hard drive, but it has yellow on the bottom right and the high pitched noise that gets worse when the brightness is turned up. I already have a RMA on it and will get a replacement soon.

I would like to know how prevalent the high pitched noise is on the 21.5" iMacs. I have seen many topics about the yellow screen, but not too many about the high pitched noise. I know some people have gotten perfect screens, but what about machines with no high pitched noise? I could live with a machine that had some slight yellow, but the noise gives me a bad headache.

Can anyone with a new 21.5" please confirm that there are units out there without the whine sound? I don't want to waste my time sending back exchanges if all 21.5s have this noise.

I retuned my new i7 because of the same issue, and my replacement doesn't have it (I know you said 21", but I would reason the problem is similar in both screens). I would say this is probably the second most complained about issue with the imac behind the yellow screens. Alot of the time you'll see people refer to it as the "dog-whistle noise". It seems like this problem is less prevalent in the refresh from what ive seen, but if your replacement has it again, just return it. Apple is generally very good about letting you return for obvious defects like this.

Sent mine back in a few days ago - exact same problems, same yellow corner. The dog whistle was giving me a headache. I think I could have survived the yellow tint though. i was very dissapointed I hope that we just both got one out of a bad batch.
