Hi all about a month after opening the imac box - im bored - running 8gb ram and will be getting more but its runny a ok atm :D

just wondering over at www.ifixit.com they have a cpu replacement guide.

http://www.ifixit.com/Device/iMac_Intel_21.5"

http://www.ifixit.com/Guide/Repair/iMac-Intel-21-5-Inch-CPU-Replacement/1859/14

this to me looks like a standard i3 cpu - if so what do you reckon i could get away with placing in :D i know it wont take a SB edition...but i can still source an ORIGINAL I3 CPU or even a 3.6 i5 :D

any ideas on if it would fit and also do they change the cooling for a 3.06 i3 up to the 3.6 i5 - as surely all other parts would be the same????

i aint afraid of taking a screwdriver spudger or dremel to anything as i repair laptops ps3's xbox360's etc etc for a living.

i know a mac is different but i stripped my old 15" late 2008 mbpro down for something to do :D

Cheers

Vinda
