Hello. I have a Late 2013 2.7 GHz iMac that is stock (1tb HD, 8gb RAM) that is staring down the barrel of a 16gb RAM and SSD upgrade.

Looks like the reliable source for the RAM is OWC. (link: https://eshop.macsales.com/item/OWC/1600DDR3I16P/)

However, with the SSD, the price difference between OWC and Crucial is stark.

OWC has 2.0TB - Mercury Electra™ 6G SSD 2.5" Serial-ATA 7mm Solid-State Drive (link: https://eshop.macsales.com/item/OWC/S3D7E6GT2.0/) for $329.00

Crucial has Crucial MX500 2TB SATA 2.5" 7mm (with 9.5mm adapter) Internal SSD (link: https://www.crucial.com/usa/en/imac-(21*5-inch,-late-2013)-imac14,1/CT11319574) for $289.00

I'm sort of wondering if the OWC is worth the $50.00 difference or if you all have a better suggestion.

My primary goal is to increase speed and longevity of usability of this iMac. I'd be curious for anyone/everyone's thoughts and suggestions.

Thanks.

Bizarrely in the UK is seems slightly the other way round, at least for the memory supplier I’m using. Crucial stick are about 15-20% more than OWC ones. For a late 2009 iMac I’m upgrading. Personally I’ve always used OWC with zero problems but I’m sure you’ll find lots of people on the forum with good experience of both, plus the occasional bad sticks on both too.

So is there a significant difference/benefit to one or the other....forum members?
