On my way to the Apple store. Someone convince me I need the 21” over the 27” base model. Not a power user by any means but dang that 27” is sexy.

Fast help needed.

no, it's not. :)

consider an SSD, and factor that in the price you'll be paying.

The 21 inch imacs, given that they now have discrete graphics boards, aren't quite the step down that they once were. But there's still a difference in speed.

27". I have one (2010) and even without Retina it is a gorgeous display.

Compare them. I'd also go with the i5 chipset and all SSD, which means they'll have to order it for you.

Just compare the two then come back with your thoughts for more feedback. No real need to rush a purchase which will last you 8-10 years.

I don’t think the 27” is available without retina.

Love my 21” iMac but patience is something severely lacking in my world. LOL

Keep in mind the base model 21.5" does not have retina display. If you go 21.5' go for the mid level. And you'll thank us all later if you upgrade to the SSD also.

sometime after 2014, Apple's displays were redesigned for an ever wider color gamut. Iiirc, it's called P3.

Well guys, thanks for all the guidance. I came home with the base 27" iMac. Setting it up now. This thing is a beast! I've named mine iHulk. LOL

Seriously, thank you for all the advice. I figured this was going to happen after having the 21'' which was awesome and I plan to keep it in service here in the house. But man, this 27"...wow!

Don't worry, it will seem 'small' in a couple of years, lol
