I'm curious. Why would it matter what others choose to buy? How would this information be useful?

It is useful for the very same reason my original post is. It is simply "curiosity" as you have expressed in your post. If you do not like it feel free not to vote.

I for one, am interested what my fellow forum members are considering to purchase when it is released.

I didn't say it mattered; I said I'm curious. There's a difference. There's no need to get defensive. It was an honest question, not a criticism of the thread or the poll. Since everyone has different needs, tastes, preferences, etc., I wanted to understand how knowing what some complete strangers buy would have any effect on what I would buy. You said it's just curiosity. That's all you needed to say.

I was not being defensive at all. I see no need for me to defend anything at all. I simply made a post out of curiosity as you did. There seems to be others who have a similar interest so there you go. Have a great day! :)

I hope to be dead by 2102 or at least in some kind of long term suspended animation. Either way I won't be available to buy a mini then.... :)

It's all good. We've all done it. Just thought it was funny, so I had to say something! :)

Defiantly in the market for a new mini, hopefully we have on par graphics as the new MacBook Pro 15...... Quad CPUs across the entire lineup, and dual drives without needing to select the server model

Bring on the new mini Apple :)

I will definitely buy the 2012 Mac Mini. I plan on using it as my Home PC/HTPC
Which version will I buy?It all depends on specs and prices.
I am leaning towards mid option with Graphic Card. Lets hope it will be good

I want to buy one to use as a HTPC, and general all round server for my home network.
I have a NAS so storage is not a real concern.
I intend to buy the best CPU possible (since its not upgradeable and I want the unit to last as long as possible), but the lowest HDD and RAM possible - so will probablyend up buying the server version due to the better CPUs.

I already have a Vertex 3 SSD - still sealed in its box, waiting to go into the unit once I have it.
I am looking for a secondary 1TB drive to stick in at the same time, while I have it open!

I was also going to buy RAM now, but will wait until the Mini is released, in case they have up'd the RAM speed etc - but am leaning towards Kingston HyperX or Corsair Vengance - will consider speeds etc once the unit is released.

Will be pumping some money into this beast - there is a video on Youtube about some guy making the 'fastest Mac Mini in the world' - Im going to be creating similar videos fo rmy YouTube channel, but will outdo him ;)

I just got a 2011 model so I probably won't replace it until 2013 when the Haswell version comes out.

I'll def buy if it gets the Ivy bridge and HD4000, will go for the quad core IF it can be upgraded by me, ram ssd etc so I don't have to pay apple premiums on those, or it'll be a refurbished i7 2011 for me.

yes

I can't wait till they update them. I'm replacing my decked out 2008 macbook that has been sitting on the desk for years now. I have great monitors and have no need for paying for another macbook pro no matter how cool the retina screen seems or for an imac with another screen.
