2102 Mac Mini blank screen on wake from sleep in Mavericks

I have a 2012 Mac Mini with a Asus 247 monitor and just upgraded to Mavericks. When my Mac Mini goes to sleep, it does not wake properly. The monitor will show the HDMI input notice and I can even see my cursor and move it around and notifications will also appear in the upper right corner but the rest is just dark. Strange. I can type in my password and hit enter and then the screen goes back to normal. When it is still dark, I can turn the monitor off and on and it will be back to normal too. I have done all the SMC reset, zapped PRAM, did Disk Utility and Disk Warrior. This did not happen in Mt. Lion. I reported this also on the Apple Support Discussions and to Apple. Any other ideas? Thanks.

Damn... looks like a few too many screen/monitor issues coming out of Mavericks for the Mini 2012. I feel sorry for you guys. My 2012 with a Sony Bravia is in the clear luckily (for me).

Well, mine runs well.

Mavericks install was smooth. I am using an Apple Display port to VGA adapter.

Even using ML, there was an HDMI issue - which was why I switched to VGA ever since.

This happened on my retina macbook pro this morning. It's a bug in Mavericks. I got the black screen, but I could see the cursor change over where the password entry was. Then somehow I got it to show me the spinning pinwheel of death on the black screen. After 2 minutes of that I just did a hard reboot.

BTW this was on the built-in screen, not an external monitor.

I'm having the exact same issue, intermittently, with a mid-2011 Mac Mini connected to an HP 2311x via HDMI. The 2011 Mini has integrated Intel HD3000 graphics.

My fix is to unplug the HDMI cable and plug it back in, then the screen is back to normal. Doesn't happen all the time, only after a longer period of sleep.
