23" cinema display at low resolution with boot camp

I'm running boot camp on my 15" MBP and have it hooked up to a 23" cinema display. But the max resolution in Windows on my Cinema display is only as big as the laptop screen. How can I adjust the cinema display to it's native resolution?

One interesting thing is that even though the lid is closed, the Apple logo is lit up, meaning my laptop screen is also on.

I read one other post where someone said if you make the laptop screen turn off, you can adjust the external display independently. Any idea how to shut the laptop screen off?

In system prefs, turn off mirroring, that will enable screen panning. To run closed lid, make sure the power is plugged in and click with the mouse or keyboard(external)

If I have both screens on and visible, I figured out how to independently configure each screen's resolution within Windows. But I still can't figure out how to turn the laptop's display off (which i don't use when hooked up to an external display). Yes, I tried shutting the MBP lid. That puts it to sleep and when it wakes up, both displays turn on.

This is only when I am in Windows. In OSX it works fine.

I was doing this, but even under the ATI prefs when the cinema display was set to primary the other one was still lit up when I shut the lid. Is there some other way to turn it off besides shutting the lid I'm not aware of?

You have to turn it off from the Displays control panel, not by closing the lid.

What is the proper way to do it in the displays control panel? If I right click on the icon for the display and make sure that it is not attached (no check mark), I would think that would turn it off. It does on my Windows computer I'm using right now at work. But for some reason, on my Mac, even when it says the other display is unattached, it is still on.

I'll try messing with it more when I get home. It might be that I have to unattach it while the lid is still up or something weird like that.

Oh, well maybe it can't be done then. When I've used dual displays in Windows it's always been with two external ones. There's a checkbox that's something like "Use this display" and I uncheck it, click Apply, and the display deactivates.
