I have an source that tells me that an iMac with an 23 inch screen is on the way

The Specs are: (these may not be the final specs)

2.16 Intel Core Duo Processor
23 Inch Screen with 1920x1200 (possibly Lower)
512mb Ram
500GB Hard Drive

The Rest Of The Specs are the Same

If This is all True
then i Cant wait :)

Arghh, not another one of these I have a source threads.....

However, that would be a nice computer, but I bet the price would be too much for an iMac, from my point of view anyway...

yea, im sure all the rumor site who actually have sources inside apple, and who spend their lives trying to figure out what apple will do next, and have a good track record of being right, and have heard nothing of this, are wrong; and your "friend", of whom we have no idea who he is(or you for that matter) is right.

on a related note, i have a friend who told me he heard that the new intel powermac will be coming out next tuesday, and it will have 4 64-bit core duo chips, 4TB hard drive, 7800GT, a blue-ray drive, and a built in coffee maker, and will sell for $1500
:D

I think this is entirely plausible. Whether or not the OP actually has a source is a different matter, but I see no reason that this couldn't happen.

Plausible yes....likely, probably not (at least not right now). Why would Apple have waited to introduce it when they first announced the iMac and MacBook Pro?

Do you think that Apple will drop the 17 inch model, and go 20 and 23 inch? Or do you think that they will have all 3 sizes?

Hard to say, perhaps all three sizes initially and then ween the line up down to the 20" and 23" iMac.

Won't you all be laughing it away when I post my "Official Just Ordered an iMac Core Duo™ 23" Thread" on next Tuesday? ;)

Yes, us skeptics will be having a good chuckle should the 23" iMac Core Duo be released next Tuesday. ;) :)

I myself would like to see a 23" or 24" imac intel. I would like to know why Dell offers a 24" lcd and Apple only offers a 23" lcd. I thought these were the same screens with different housing?

Inevitably followed by multiple threads regarding how much cheaper a 2405FPW and a Dell XPS would be than that computer, several more threads criticizing Apple for not going to 30", several more threads pointing out that 30" screens are clearly reserved for "professionals," and that the 23" iMac Core Duo is a Consumer™ device, a good number of threads expressing frustration with the direction Apple is taking, one or two threads vowing to immediately sell any and all Apple hardware that made the original poster very happy the day before the announcement, and roll back to Windows ME, and of course at least one thread asking when Rev. B of said iMac will be out, and whether or not it will ship with Leopard. :)

EDIT: Truz, there are only a few manufacturers of LCDs, but there are more than one. So it's not exactly true that every Mac screen can be paired to a Dell counterpart. But I'm pretty sure Apple is not the only one to use the 23" form factor. It appears Sony, Viewsonic, HP, LG, and others also sell this screen format. They probably *do* use the same panel that Apple does.

Now what would be interesting is if at the larger 23 inch size (if it ever happens) they try to ditch the big white space at the bottom, and enclose everything behind the panel - especially since it looks like the new internals take up less space and run much cooler. The space on the 17 and 20 aren't too bad, but it would be sweet if they were gone all together...

And it will still run Photoshop slower than a G5 iMac.
