23" Monitor for HDTV?

Hi,

I am looking now at buying an HDTV, but I want it to double as the second display for my PowerBook. What do I need to do to turn one of those super spiffy 23" Apple displays into an HDTV? I know the cable companies rent you an HDamp for a typical "HD ready" set that you buy at the store. Will one of these hook up to the 23" monitor?

the apple acds support the resolution but are not hdcp enabled, this is the encryption that hd content will use to stop unlimited distribution. so basicly you cant use it to plug in a tuner or hd-dvd. best bet is to get a hd ready tv with a dvi connection and use the tv as your monitor, cheaper too.

Also the 23" apple display only has 1 input. It's going to be a pain switching the cables in and out all the time.

Even with DVI+HDCP, you won't be able to watch HD DVD and Blu-Ray at HD resolutions. You must get a display with HDMI.

Where do you get a flat panel TV with 1920x1080 pixels that is cheaper than an ACD (even 30")?

TVs suck.
