24-27" 4K Monitors for 2018 Mac mini?

We are getting ready to buy a 4K 24” or 27” monitor to replace our ~10+ year old 23” Apple Cinema Display. We are using Safari, Mail, Omnifocus, iTunes and Photos on a daily basis on a new 2018 Mac mini. We'd love to have our next monitor last as long and perform as well as our current one.

What do we need to think about when considering between a 24” - 27”?
What specific 4K monitors are important to consider?
If you are a Mac mini 2018 owner, what monitor did you select? And why?

What do we need to think about when considering between a 24” - 27”?

1. Viewing distance from the monitor.

2. State of your eyesight.

3. How much desktop space you want.

I almost always sit quite a way back from my monitor, typically 800-1000mm. Plus my eyes are getting old and even with retina monitors the smaller text (e.g. in Finder) is becoming more work to read.

Currently using a 27" 1080x1920, and it works well for me. Used to have a 27" 1440x2560, but scaled to 1080.

Does mean less desktop space. But for my use I didn't find it a big change from the 1440, and got used to it soon enough. YMMV.

I'd like to try a 5K 32", scaled to 1440. But bank account says no.

I would personally get the LG UltraFine 4K monitor @ 23.7” or the Dell 2415Q @ 23.8”. Both are 4K.

i’m using 3 of the dell 2415q 4K monitors, there is a step for setting the dell firmware hdmi to 4K 60hz

I have the new LG UltraFine 4K, it's a very nice monitor. I like that it has 2 Thunderbolt 3 ports and 3 USB-C ports on the back, allow to act as a powerful hub.

The Thunderbolt 3 & USB C ports are good options. My 2415q monitors are underpowered and I’ll have to find an external hub.
