So i have a 24" iMac as you can see in my signature.

I will not be getting any financial support from my parents as in mid september they stop buying me things until Christmas.
I want a Second dispaly for my iMac. Could u offer some advice.
I would prefer a 23" Apple Display but.......
Questions:
1. I know 30 is too big for my desk with the iMac. So should i get the 23" or the 20"?
2. Will the 20" or 23" look odd next to the iMac as in the screens will not line up?
3. Will a refurb have nicks or marks on the screen

So my question to you is this. Should I:
A) Spring For a New 20" or 23" Apple dispaly
B) Buy a Refurb 20" or 23" Apple Display
C) Wait for MWSF2009 and the "updates"

Don't talk about other displays i want an :apple:

I would go for 23" as its the same resolution as 24" imac. you can put it on a little stand and it will be alligned to your imac.

you can buy refurbished and save a bit money. it should be same as buying new and if it has problems its covered by apple care. your other option is to buy used. I bought 2 of mine used and have 0 issues with them.

I am going to jump on the go for the 23" bandwagon. If you want to put it beside your iMac, the difference isn't that bad, especially if you get a stand like this from staples:

or at least something similar to it, then it should align right up to your iMac.

I like that stand
Save your money and get a Dell monitor ;)

I said no other manufacturers

So What would be the advantage of waiting as in, yes u can speculate, realistically how if there are new ACD's what will they be like?

New ones will most likely have FW800 connections, and will probably have LED LCDs like the macbook pros. one thing i'm sure of is its going to be expensive :)

i think they will be the same price with 2 usb 2.0 and 1 FW 400 and 1 FW800

I wouldn't recommend a 30" with an iMac unless you like 1280x800 resolution ;)

Refurbs are as good as new, just come in ugly boxes.

Depends on your preferences wether to get 20 or 23... If I had a 24" iMac and wanted a second display I'd get a 20.

Just to throw it out there, I have the 24"/23" setup and it's amazing.

I don't have a stand so they don't line up perfect but I think it still looks awesome.

I can't live without dual monitors anymore though. so constraining haha...

hope you like whatever you get!!

A big ++++++++1

I am running the EXACT setup. The only difference is my 23" is on the left.

I run it spanned.

I love it.

Go for it.

i just dont know if i should wait till MWSF

That is a tough call. You might want to wait but here is something to think about. I have posted it several times in different forums.

There us ALWAYS a better model just around the corner.

I am still waiting to buy my first TV.

When they appeared in the late 40's, I said they were too expensive the price will come down.

The price came down and I said let's wait for color.

Color came and I said the picture will get better.

The picture got better and I waited for Solid State.

Solid State came and I waited for Stereo.

Stereo came and I waited for High Def.

High Def came and I waited for 1080P.

I am now a very old man and wasted years waiting for the new and improved. Still I wait.

Seriously, I am middle aged and I remember reading something similar 25 years ago.

If you want it buy it!

BTW
Ask yourself what is missing from the current model that you need. For me, there is nothing I wish it had.

Your answer might be different.
