Hi everyone

Well, Mrs wazzerb came home the other day with a 500G time capsule for me, bless her! I think it's a brilliant bit of kit and have had no trouble with it at all. However, I do have a rather strange question which Google has been unable to help me with....

Can I sit the iMac directly on top of the capsule? My desk space is limited and so I wondered if the iMac would sit on top of the time capsule without any worries. The profiles are very similar and it looks almost like Apple designed it to fit, but I'm concerned by two things.

1, The weight of the iMac. 11.5kgs. Would this be too much of a load on the TC case?

2, Heat. The TC gets warm, although the base of the iMac would act as a heat sink I guess.

Has anyone got any ideas on this. Do you reckon it would be safe? Have you done it yourself without trouble?

Any help given would be greatly appreciated.

On page 29 of the user manual it states:
- do not place metal objects in contact with the TC
- do not place any objects on top of the TC

It also recommends providing enough space for airflow around the TC.

Nice one, thanks for the replies.

Hmm, page 29 on my user manual for the TC is about connecting to the internet.?

Anyway, this is why I thought I'd ask here. Thanks for the swift responses!

It may vary depending on which model you have, but it is in the section on tips and trouble shooting.
