Hey there guys,

I'm milling over a new Mac purchase. I've gone back and fourth between the models, and have convinced myself to settle on the 24" iMac. Given that the screen is essentially the same size as that on my conventional, CRT television, I was wondering if I could somehow attach my cable box to the iMac and use it as an improvised TV. I know with modern cable boxs there are several outputs for video: HDMI, DVI, S-Video, component cable, etc, as well as a number of audio outputs.

So, the question remains...is there any way to use an iMac as a TV

they have usb devices that now recive cable you can use that on your imac, or you can install Windows xp media center edition and use tv there, with a usb cable reciver

you have 3 options: eye tv(usb peripheral for osx, use it to hook up the cable), vista, or xp mce.... All will work well.

I haven't seen many people mention Slingboxes on this forum, but that would be another option. I use mine all the time to watch TV on my phone when I'm out, on the iMac in our bedroom, etc.
