I heard somewhere that the 2.8 is roughly 15% faster than the 2.4, but well have to wait and see.

I just pray that the 2.8 won't perform a whole lot better than the 2.4. Then I'll have to start thinking about returning it and waiting even longer for the new one

I was a bit afraid of ordering the 2.8 because of the possible increase in thermal output, and the fact that I've read a lot of comments about extreme CPUs being more unstable (might not be true though). The price difference is a non issue really.

Yeah well, 2.8/2.4 = 1.16. So in theory it would be 15-17% faster. But I'm going to guess somewhere between 10-12% in practice.
